Exploring Safety in Peru through the Eyes of Dina

Peru

Peru, a land of ancient wonders and breathtaking landscapes, has been captivating the hearts of travelers worldwide. But what about safety, especially for solo female adventurers? To shed light on this topic, we spoke with Dina, a fearless explorer hailing from Cajamarca, Peru. Her journeys are driven by the desire to challenge herself and step out of her comfort zone. Let’s dive into her insights on safety in Peru for fellow solo female travelers.

Discover Dina’s Journey

Dina, a 23-year-old resident of Cajamarca, found her passion for solo travel when she embarked on her first solo venture to Santiago de Chile. It was a volunteer opportunity that set off a chain reaction, leading her to explore the world one destination at a time. According to Dina, traveling alone has been an incredible catalyst for personal growth and self-discovery.

Curious about her favorite destinations, we asked Dina about countries she has visited. She has been fortunate to step foot in Athens (Greece), Santiago de Chile, Bhaktapur and Kathmandu (Nepal), Amsterdam (Netherlands), and Zug (Switzerland). Each place holds a special place in her heart, as they offer unique experiences that are incomparable. However, she confesses that destinations like Nepal and Southeast Asia have an allure that captivates her soul.

Nepal

One of her most memorable experiences was in Pashupatinah, a sacred precinct nestled in the Kathmandu valley. Here, she witnessed the Hindu cremation ceremonies held in the open air, with the ashes respectfully laid to rest in the Bagmati river. Dina finds it difficult to put into words the profoundness of this place.

Solo Travel: A Journey of Self-Discovery

When asked about the significance of solo travel in her life, Dina emphasizes its transformative power. Traveling alone has taught her to conquer her fears, embrace risks, and step outside her comfort zone. She acknowledges the importance of self-care, as she is her own guardian on the road.

Of course, every traveler has faced challenges, and Dina is no exception. For someone who is naturally shy, the initial interactions with people from different cultures, values, and traditions proved to be a hurdle. Nonetheless, she persevered and grew from these encounters.
