Each review score ranges from 1 to 10. To calculate the overall score, we add up all the review scores and divide that total by the number of review scores received. Guests have the option to provide separate subscores for essential categories such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free WiFi. Guests independently submit their subscores and overall scores without a direct link between them.
If you have stayed at an accommodation booked through our platform, you can review it. Even if you didn’t actually stay there but visited the property, you can still share your experience. If you need to edit a review you have already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
At our platform, we have both human moderators and automated systems specialized in identifying and removing fake reviews. If we come across any suspicious reviews, we delete them and take necessary action against the responsible parties. If you notice something doubtful, please report it to our Customer Service team, and our fraud team will thoroughly investigate the matter.
We strive to publish every review we receive, regardless of whether it is positive or negative. However, there are certain types of content that we do not display, including politically sensitive comments, promotional content, illegal activities, personal or sensitive information (e.g., emails, phone numbers, credit card details), swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, violence, spam, fake content, animal cruelty, impersonation, and any violation of our review guidelines.
To ensure the relevance of reviews, we only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may cease to display reviews that are older than 36 months or in cases where the accommodation has undergone a change in ownership.
Accommodations have the option to respond to reviews.
When browsing multiple reviews, the most recent ones will appear at the top, taking into account various factors such as language and whether the review includes comments along with a rating. You have the option to sort and filter reviews based on the time of year, review score, and more.
Occasionally, we may display external review scores from other reputable travel websites, but we will explicitly state when we do so.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards are designed to maintain the relevance and family-friendly nature of content on Booking.com, while also allowing for diverse expressions and strong opinions. They apply regardless of the tone of the comments.
Contributions should be travel-related. Detailed and informative contributions that assist others in making better decisions are highly appreciated. Please refrain from including personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed, and any issues related to Booking.com’s services should be addressed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be suitable for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempting to bypass language filters with creative spelling. Comments and media containing hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit content, violence, or the promotion of illegal activities are strictly prohibited.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews hold the most value when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should reflect your personal experience. Property partners affiliated with Booking.com should not post on guests’ behalf or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. We do not tolerate attempts to lower the rating of competitors through negative reviews.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to conceal email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are solely those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com itself. Booking.com does not bear responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. We function as a distributor and do not verify the authenticity of reviews and comments. However, we are committed to ensuring that reviews are sorted based on their date and other relevant criteria, such as language, the presence of text, and non-anonymity. Additional sorting options may be available based on the type of traveler or review score.
