Why Choose Princess Vacation Protection Plan?

Princess Cruises offers their own branded travel insurance plan called Princess Vacation Protection. Underwritten by Nationwide and administered by Aon, two trusted names in the insurance industry, this plan provides coverage for a range of unforeseen events that could disrupt your cruise experience.

Imagine sipping a cocktail on the deck of your cruise ship as you sail through stunning Alaskan waters. But what if an unexpected illness or injury forces you to cancel your trip? That’s where travel insurance comes in. Princess Vacation Protection Plan offers cancellation coverage of up to 100% of your trip cost for qualifying reasons such as illness, injury, or the unexpected death of a traveler or immediate family member.

Choosing the Right Plan for You

Princess Vacation Protection Plan comes in two options: Standard and Platinum. Let’s take a closer look at what each plan offers.

Princess Cruise Vacation Protection Insurance – Standard Protection Levels

Is Princess Vacation Protection Plan Enough?

While Princess Vacation Protection Plan offers some coverage, it is essential to assess whether it meets your specific needs. For example, the medical insurance coverage and emergency evacuation limits provided by Princess are relatively low. Cruise Insurance 101 recommends a minimum of $100,000 for medical insurance and $250,000 for medical evacuation. In comparison, Princess Vacation Protection Plan offers $10,000 in medical insurance and $50,000 in emergency evacuation on their Standard Plan, and $20,000 in medical insurance and $75,000 in emergency evacuation on their Platinum Plan.

Additionally, Princess Vacation Protection Plan’s coverage for canceling for any reason only provides future cruise credits, which expire after one year and cannot be redeemed for cash. In contrast, policies like the Trawick First Class offer cash refunds of up to 75% of prepaid, non-refundable trip costs, including arrangements made outside of Princess Cruises.

Find Better Coverage and Save Money

By shopping for travel insurance through Cruise Insurance 101’s Travel Insurance Marketplace, you can find better coverage at a lower cost. For our sample couple aged 55 and 60, the Trawick First Class policy offers superior coverage compared to Princess Vacation Protection Plan’s Standard Plan at a price of $231.00, which is $56.68 less than Princess. This plan includes $150,000 in medical insurance and $1 million in medical evacuation, providing you with peace of mind during your cruise.

If you desire the added protection of a policy with Cancel For Any Reason coverage, consider the Trawick First Class (CFAR 75%) plan. At $392.70, it offers the same benefits as the Trawick First Class but also includes a Cancel For Any Reason provision that refunds 75% of trip costs in cash. This plan provides extensive coverage at a lower cost compared to Princess Vacation Protection Plan’s Platinum Plan, which offers similar benefits.

Choose the Best Travel Insurance for Your Princess Cruise

When it comes to protecting your investment and ensuring a worry-free vacation, it’s crucial to select the right travel insurance. Princess Vacation Protection Plan offers minimal coverage at a higher cost, while alternative options like the Trawick First Class policy provide superior coverage at a lower price.

At Cruise Insurance 101, we recommend having at least $100,000 in travel medical coverage and $250,000 to $500,000 for emergency medical evacuation when traveling outside the US. It’s also essential to purchase a policy with a pre-existing condition waiver if you have any medical conditions. Our user-friendly marketplace enables you to compare multiple options and choose the best policy to suit your needs.
