Embrace the Comforts of Home with Budget-Friendly Villas in Sri Lanka
I’ve always found the idea of a villa vacation to be perfect for families or those traveling with a group. It’s like having a “home away from home” that offers privacy, flexibility, and all the comforts you need. Plus, who can resist the allure of a private pool? It’s a dream come true.
But now that I’m a mom myself, I truly understand the appeal. Staying in a villa means you don’t have to worry about disturbing other guests if your little one decides to burst into song during breakfast. No judgment when your baby decides to make a mess during mealtime – after all, it’s just your family there. And most importantly, the game-changer: you can actually go to bed at different times! It’s mind-blowing. No more sitting in a dark hotel room, quietly watching Netflix with headphones, desperately trying not to wake your sleeping toddler who’s just a few feet away. Trust me, it’s a real struggle. Just ask any mom you know.
Villas in Sri Lanka take it up a notch. Their version of “self-catering” includes having a chef who not only shops and cooks for you but also cleans up afterward! Now, that’s what I call a real holiday, don’t you think?

Sleeps 4
Sisindu C, Thalpe
South Coast. Beachfront. 2 bedrooms.
Located right on the beach, this stunning 2-bedroom villa perfectly blends the outdoor and indoor spaces, offering breathtaking views of the sea. You can even step into a large pool right from the living room! If you enjoy going out in the evenings, this villa is conveniently situated within walking distance of various bars, restaurants, and hotels. And if you’re up for a little adventure, take an easy car trip to the UNESCO Heritage town of Galle, which I absolutely love for a leisurely stroll and a delicious meal. Though, trust me, you won’t really want to leave this well-appointed villa. The attentive staff will take care of your every need. Just note that it’s more suitable for families with older children since the two bedrooms are not connected.
Sri Villas, Induruwa
West Coast. Beach access. 2 – 4 bedrooms
Sri Villas is actually a collection of three villas nestled around a massive shared pool. What makes it so special? Well, the villas are absolutely beautiful, and the location is just perfect. It’s close enough to Bentota for you to enjoy various water sports, yet far enough to guarantee a peaceful stay. If you’re a family of 4 or 5, Nisala, the smallest villa, is the ideal choice. And here’s a little secret: we’re currently offering a 20% discount for stays in May and June 2020. So, if you fancy a week-long getaway during the May half term, this could be the perfect opportunity!
Sleeps 6
Kumara, near Weligama
South Coast. Less than 10 minutes from the beach. 3 bedrooms.
Nestled in the lush jungle on a vibrant cinnamon estate, Kumara is a funky villa that offers a serene retreat. And if you’re looking for some action, it’s less than 10 minutes away from the busy Weligama beach. So, during the day, you can enjoy the surf breaks and the vibrant atmosphere, and at night, you can retreat back to your peaceful sanctuary.
Apsara Villa, Aluthgama, near Bentota
West Coast. Waterfront. 3 bedrooms
With its breathtaking views of the stunning Bentota lagoon, Apsara Villa offers a stylish and calming retreat. You can even hop on a boat from the private jetty and be at the beach within minutes. And if you’re up for it, you can even hire kayaks during your stay. The villa is conveniently located less than 2 hours from the airport, making it an ideal choice for families with younger children. It also serves as the perfect base to explore the beautiful southwestern corner of Sri Lanka. Don’t miss the chance to visit the nearby UNESCO Heritage town of Galle – the coastal railway ride there is a lot of fun! Plus, Apsara Villa goes the extra mile by providing thoughtful family touches such as highchairs, something not always available in all Sri Lankan villas.
Sleeps 8 or more
Ambalama, near Galle
South Coast. Beachfront. 4 bedrooms.
Picture yourself in a dreamy beachfront location, close to the historic town of Galle. That’s exactly what you’ll get at Ambalama. With its infinity pool, expansive dining space, and frequent visits from turtles, this villa is pure paradise. Oh, and did I mention that you can even enjoy on-call massage therapists? Talk about ultimate relaxation!
Cove houses, near Tangalle
South Coast. Sea views. 5 bedrooms
Perched above the sea, Cove House and Little Cove offer your group an expansive private garden just steps away from the beach in the Dikwella area. There’s something for everyone here, from board games to a refreshing pool, and easy access to local towns. It’s one of my personal favorites if you’re keen to go on a safari as well. Being further east along the coast, day trips to national parks are shorter from this location.
Auraliya, near Galle
South Coast. Beachfront. 6 bedrooms.
Symmetrical and spacious, Auraliya is a beachfront villa that can accommodate up to 12 adults. It features a picturesque little beach cove that you’ll likely have all to yourself. The option of connecting rooms through the bathrooms makes it ideal for families. And let me tell you, the sunsets here are absolutely magical – you won’t ever want to leave.
