Each review score ranges from 1 to 10. To determine the overall score, we add up all the review scores and divide the total by the number of reviews received. Guests also have the option to provide separate subscores in important areas such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free WiFi. Guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, without any direct link between them.
You have the opportunity to review an accommodation that you booked through our platform, whether you stayed there or simply visited the property. If you need to edit a review you have already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
To maintain the integrity of our platform, we have both human reviewers and automated systems dedicated to identifying and removing fake reviews. If we discover any fake reviews, we promptly delete them and take appropriate action against the individuals responsible.
We encourage anyone who notices suspicious activity to report it to our Customer Service team. Our fraud team will thoroughly investigate such reports.
Ideally, we would publish all reviews we receive, both positive and negative. However, we do have guidelines in place and won’t display reviews that include or refer to politically sensitive comments, promotional content, illegal activities, personal or sensitive information (such as emails, phone numbers, or credit card details), swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, references to violence, spam, fake content, animal cruelty, impersonation, or any violation of our review guidelines.
To ensure that reviews remain relevant, we may only accept reviews submitted within 3 months of checking out. Additionally, we may stop displaying reviews that are 36 months old or if the accommodation undergoes a change of ownership.
Accommodations have the option to respond to reviews.
When multiple reviews are available, the most recent ones will be displayed at the top, taking into consideration various factors such as language and whether the review is a rating or includes comments. You can sort and filter the reviews by time of year, review score, and other criteria.
Occasionally, we may include external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but we clearly indicate when we do so.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards are designed to ensure that the content on Booking.com remains relevant and appropriate for all users, without restricting freedom of expression or strong opinions. The guidelines apply regardless of the tone of the comments.
Contributions should be travel-related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and assist others in making better decisions. Please refrain from including personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. We will remove any promotional content, and issues related to Booking.com’s services should be directed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be suitable for a global audience. Please avoid the use of profanity or attempts to disguise profanity with creative spelling in any language. Comments and media that contain hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit language, violence, or promotion of illegal activities are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should reflect your own experience. Property partners of Booking.com should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. We do not tolerate attempts to lower the rating of a competitor through the submission of negative reviews.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make every effort to protect the privacy of individuals by concealing email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
