A Punta Cana Map of the entire area – the overview

Let’s start with a Punta Cana map of the entire area. With over 90 all-inclusive resorts in 7 hotel areas, Punta Cana is the Dominican Republic’s most important tourism destination. Sometimes it is hard to know where each accommodation is located on the map, what it is surrounded by and how far it is to other places, for example, Punta Cana International Airport.

Therefore, it is recommendable to first have a look at the following Punta Cana map, where you can see the different areas of where the all-inclusive resorts in Punta Cana are located.

Punta Cana can be roughly divided into 7 areas:

Cabeza de Toro
Bavaro
Arena Gorda

Cap Cana is a gated community with exclusively luxurious villas and high-end hotels. It is the newest part of Punta Cana, with a lot of areas yet needed to be developed.

The actual part of Punta Cana is just a small village constructed in the recent 10-20 years. With Puntacana Resort and Club Med, there are just a few resorts and villas. Punta Cana Village is also right next to Punta Cana International Airport.

Cabeza de Toro is a tiny area north of Punta Cana Village with 7-8 all-inclusive resorts. There is not much around besides these accommodations.

Bavaro is the hotspot of Punta Cana’s all-inclusive resorts. It features most accommodation including apartments or small guesthouses, is home to the famous and beautiful Bavaro Beach and hosts a couple of beach clubs and beachfront restaurants. It is the most active area of Punta Cana.

Arena Gorda is directly adjoining Bavaro Beach (or, depending on the definition, it is part of it), with another array of more than two dozen Punta Cana all-inclusive resorts (which you all can see on the Punta Cana maps below). There are no public access points.

North of Arena Gorda is Macao, an area popular among locals and with a fantastic beach, Macao Beach. So far, Macao only features one all-inclusive resort, Dreams Macao Beach.

The northernmost part of the immediate Punta Cana area – already around 25 miles away from the airport – is Uvero Alto. Here you can find a dozen resorts scattered along the beach, but not much else.

Cap Cana Map: the hotels of Cap Cana on the map of Punta Canas’ resorts

Let’s start with the maps of Punta Canas’ resorts and first head to the most southern area of Punta Cana: Cap Cana.This exclusive community houses plenty of stunning luxury villas and super-exclusive resorts. Together with the Punta Cana map, the Cap Cana map is the only one where we have added a few selected non-all-inclusive resorts as well, as they are often asked for and are very popular (particularly Eden Roc Cap Cana*).

As you can see on the following Cap Cana map, the resorts in Cap Cana are well-spread out. There isn’t a particular area with a lot of all-inclusive resorts, most hotels here are dotted in between golf courses and luxury villas.

Eden Roc Cap Cana, Golden Bear Lodge and Fishing Lodge Cap Cana are not all-inclusive resorts.

Eden Roc Cap Cana seems like a particularly large hotel on the map, but this is due to the resort being very spread out, with some of the villas being located in privacy next to the golf course and the beach club being a little bit further away. In total, Eden Roc only features 64 suites and villas.

When people are usually talking about Punta Cana they are referring to the entire area in the east of the Dominican Republic, which is covered in this article about the maps of Punta Canas’ resorts. However, there is also a part that can be called “Punta Cana proper” or, to use the local name, Punta Cana Village. It is the business district of Punta Cana right south of the international airport and features golf courses, luxury villas and boutique resorts along the coastline.

As you can see on this Punta Cana hotel map, there are just three major hotels in this area, which makes it particularly exclusive. Only one of those (Club Med Punta Cana) is an all-inclusive resort.

As mentioned earlier, Cabeza de Toro is not much more than an agglomeration of a bit more than a handful of all-inclusive resorts, particularly in the mid-price segment. As you can see on the Punta Cana resort map below, Cabeza de Toro is pretty small, hence all all-inclusive resorts are easily walkable along the beach.

But why is this area of Punta Cana so popular?First of all, Bavaro Beach is what can easily be considered one of the most beautiful and longest beaches in Punta Cana. Furthermore, Bavaro features all kinds of different Punta Cana hotels. There is no set definition if Arena Gorda is still part of Bavaro or if it shall be considered to be a separate area of Punta Cana. However, it is a matter of fact that Arena Gorda directly borders Bavaro and that the beach of both areas is one extremely long continuous stretch of 12 miles of finest sand. Furthermore, Arena Gorda has nearly as many all-inclusive resorts as Bavaro, summing up to more than 50, which would make it impossible to add them all on one map of Punta Canas’ resorts.

Arena Gorda has a similar selection of all-inclusive resorts to Bavaro. You can choose among cheap all-inclusive resorts, such as Occidental Caribe or Caribe Deluxe Princess, family resort favorites such as Royalton Punta Cana or RIU with its fantastic water parks in Punta Cana, or high-quality hotels such as Iberostar Grand or Hard Rock Punta Cana.

Macao is the only area in Punta Cana where a Punta Cana resort map is not necessary – there is just one all-inclusive resort in Macao. 🙂

Dreams Macao Beach so far is the only resort on this beautiful beach (besides a private boutique hotel called Selectum Hacienda Punta Cana*), so it is easy to locate it and doesn’t need a resort map.

Uvero Alto is the most northern area of Punta Cana’s hotel zone (besides the Miches / Playa Esmeralda area, which yet has to be developed and only has one resort so far, Club Med Miches*) and features around a dozen properties scattered along Uvero Alto beach. You can see the locations of each hotel below on the Uvero Alto map of Punta Cana resorts, which is dominated by popular family resorts (Grand Sirenis, Nickelodeon, etc.) and high-end boutique resorts (Excellence, Zoetry, Live Aqua, etc.).
